A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter a non-negative amount and choose its unit.
- Choose the output unit and optionally enter a user-provided bitrate.
- Read the converted size and estimated transfer time.
Two standards
Decimal units use kB, MB, GB, TB with powers of 1000. Binary units use KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB with powers of 1024. Bits and bytes are distinct.
Transfer estimate
Time is shown only when you provide a positive bitrate; it assumes the stated rate is sustained and excludes protocol overhead.
Drive labels
Storage manufacturers commonly label decimal bytes, so an advertised drive capacity may appear smaller when displayed with binary units.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Is my data uploaded?
No. Conversion happens locally in your browser.
Why does 1 GB differ from 1 GiB?
GB uses 1,000,000,000 bytes; GiB uses 1,073,741,824 bytes.
How is transfer time estimated?
The amount is divided by your positive bitrate. The estimate assumes that rate is sustained and excludes protocol overhead.
