A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter capture frame rate, playback frame rate, and real capture duration.
  2. Calculate only when capture frame rate is greater than playback frame rate.
  3. Review the ratio and slowed duration; captured detail is not increased by interpolation.

Formula and source

Slow-motion ratio = capture FPS / playback FPS. Slowed duration = real capture duration × ratio. Adobe explains frame-rate relationships for video: Adobe frame rate guide: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/video/discover/frame-rate.html

Interpretation limit

This calculator plans timing only. It does not claim interpolated or repeated frames are newly captured detail, and it does not assess camera, codec, shutter, or playback support.

Local processing

The calculation runs in this browser. Inputs are not uploaded or stored.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Why must capture FPS be higher?

Slow motion requires capture FPS to exceed playback FPS. Equal or lower capture FPS is not called slow motion here.

Does the result create frames?

No. It only calculates a ratio and duration; interpolation or repeated frames do not represent newly captured detail.

What duration should I enter?

Enter the real time represented by the captured clip, in seconds.
