A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose one GIF up to 25 MB.
  2. Optimize it locally in this browser.
  3. Compare the byte sizes and download the result.

What this optimizer changes

This browser-only pass removes comment extensions, plain-text extensions, and application extensions other than NETSCAPE2.0 or ANIMEXTS1.0 loop controls. It keeps GIF image data, palettes, frame timing blocks, and recognized loop settings.

Limits and caveats

Input is limited to one GIF up to 25 MB. The output can be the same size when no removable blocks exist. This is metadata cleanup, not palette quantization, frame dropping, resizing, or lossy recompression.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Will every GIF become smaller?

No. The result is smaller only when removable extension blocks are present.

Are frames or timing changed?

No. Image records, palettes, graphic control blocks, and recognized loop settings are retained.

Is the GIF uploaded?

No. Reading, cleanup, preview, and download happen in your current browser.
