A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a board size, scoring mode, and komi.
  2. Take turns placing stones; illegal self-capture and ko recapture are rejected.
  3. Pass, undo, reset, or score the finished position using territory or area scoring.

Learning and play scope

This is a local two-player board for studying and playing Go. It does not provide an AI opponent, online play, game records, or upload.

Rules handled

The board applies adjacent-group liberties, captures, suicide prevention, simple ko, pass, undo, and reset. A position with two consecutive passes can be scored.

Scoring depends on rules

Territory scoring counts surrounded empty points plus stones captured during play. Area scoring counts stones on the board plus surrounded empty points. Komi is added to White.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Can I play against the computer?

No. The tool is for two people sharing one device and does not include AI.

What is ko?

Ko prevents an immediate recapture that would recreate the previous position. This tool enforces the simple-ko position check.

Why can a move be rejected?

A move is rejected when the point is occupied, it repeats the previous position under ko, or it leaves the played group without liberties after captures.
