Grout Calculator
Estimate grout joint volume and mass from tile dimensions, covered area and your density.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose dimension and area units, then enter tile, joint and area values.
- Enter your material density and loss allowance, then calculate.
Formula and units
f = g × (L + W + g) / ((L + g) × (W + g)); V = A × h × f × 1000 L; V₊ = V × (1 + w/100); m = V₊ × ρ kg. L, W, g, h are tile length, tile width, joint width and joint depth in metres; A is covered area in m²; w is loss percent; ρ is your kg/L density.
Scope and limitations
Rectangular repeating tiles and uniform, fully filled joints. Joint intersections are counted once; perimeter edges, voids, tile irregularities and product yield are excluded. Supply the density for your material; no density or package size is assumed.
Input limits and precision
Dimensions and area: greater than 0, at most 1,000,000. Loss: 0–100%. Density: greater than 0, at most 100 kg/L. Use finite numbers. Results show 12 significant digits using floating-point arithmetic, not measurement accuracy.
