Ideal Body Weight Calculator
Choose a formula coefficient set and height to compare four historical estimates. These are not personal health targets.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose the formula coefficient set and enter a height of at least 5 ft (60 in).
- Choose centimeters or inches, then calculate.
- Compare the four historical formula outputs in kg and lb.
Formula values and source
Implemented from Peterson et al., AJCN Table 3 (PMC4841935), and the Robinson original abstract (PMID 6869387): Devine men 50.0 kg + 2.3 kg/in, women 45.5 + 2.3; Robinson men 52 + 1.9, women 49 + 1.7; Miller men 56.2 + 1.41, women 53.1 + 1.36; Hamwi men 106 lb + 6 lb/in, women 100 + 5.
Range and interpretation
The formulas are evaluated only at or above 60 inches (5 ft); shorter heights are out of range rather than extrapolated. Results are historical formula estimates, not personal healthy-weight goals or medical guidance.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Can I calculate below 5 ft?
No. Heights below 60 inches are reported out of range instead of extrapolated.
Are these medical recommendations?
No. They are historical formula results for comparison only.
