KVA to KW Calculator
Enter kVA and the load power factor to calculate real power in kW.
Enter the measured or rated apparent power and the load power factor. Power factor is required; it is not assumed to be 1.
P (kW) = S (kVA) × PF
Real power
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter positive apparent power in kVA.
- Enter the load power factor greater than 0 and at most 1; it is not assumed to be 1.
- Calculate and review real power in kW.
Formula and load assumption
Real power P (kW) = apparent power S (kVA) × power factor PF. PF describes the load; enter the value for the operating or rated condition you are estimating.
Local estimate
This browser-only calculator does not measure equipment, identify the load, or provide electrical safety or engineering sign-off.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Can I omit power factor?
No. kVA alone does not determine kW, so enter a decimal power factor greater than 0 and at most 1.
Should I enter 80 or 0.8?
Enter 0.8 for 80%. The field accepts a decimal greater than 0 and at most 1.
Is PF of 1 automatic?
No. PF is an explicit required input because real loads commonly have a power factor below 1.
