Marine Fuel Range Calculator

Calculate fuel per nautical mile, usable tank volume, arithmetic range and fuel for a supplied distance.

In-browser processingNo account requiredPrivacy details ↗

Constant burn and speed arithmetic only. Your reserve is not a safety recommendation. Results exclude wind, tide, currents, changing load and port risks; required fuel does not add reserve or establish passage safety.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your positive measured burn rate and constant speed, plus tank volume.
  2. Enter your own reserve percentage and distance. No reserve is recommended.
  3. Calculate, then copy or download the fuel report.

Formula and units

L/nmi = burn (L/h) ÷ speed (kn). Usable L = tank L × (1 − reserve%/100). Range nmi = usable L ÷ L/nmi. Required L = distance nmi × L/nmi.

Scope

Constant burn and speed arithmetic only. Your reserve is not a safety recommendation. Results exclude wind, tide, currents, changing load and port risks; required fuel does not add reserve or establish passage safety.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does the range establish a safe passage?

No. It only uses your constant inputs and reserve percentage, without evaluating conditions or fuel sufficiency.
