Note Length Table
Set a tempo and subdivision to compare common musical note and rest lengths in beats and milliseconds.
Durations are calculated from a quarter note beat at the selected tempo. Notes and rests have the same duration.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter a BPM from 20 to 400.
- Choose the smallest subdivision to include.
- Review common, dotted, and triplet durations.
Tempo-based durations
Durations use the standard relationship between BPM and a quarter-note beat. Notes and rests are shown together because they occupy the same amount of time.
Optional rhythmic variants
Enable dotted and triplet values to compare common extensions and divisions. Values are rounded to the nearest millisecond for display.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What does BPM mean?
BPM means beats per minute. At 120 BPM, one quarter-note beat lasts 500 milliseconds.
Why do notes and rests match?
A rest represents silence for a musical duration, so its time length is the same as the corresponding note.
Are triplets exact?
Triplet values are calculated as two thirds of a beat and rounded to the nearest millisecond for display.
