Pipe Slope Calculator
Convert signed elevation change and horizontal run or inclined length into slope percent, rise:run ratio and angle; also solve elevation or horizontal run from slope.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose geometry, percent, ratio, angle or inverse horizontal run.
- Enter signed elevation or slope and choose whether distance is horizontal run or inclined length. Each length has its own unit.
- Calculate and copy or download all raw inputs, unit conversions, formulas and precision labels.
Model
p = 100 × rise / horizontal run; angle = atan2(rise, run); length² = run² + rise². Inverse run = 100 × rise / p.
Distance basis
Positive elevation is rise; negative is fall. Geometry only: no installation, legal compliance, flow capacity or minimum slope recommendation. Inputs stay in this browser.

All calculations and UTF-8 text exports happen locally.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What happens at zero run or zero slope?
A nonzero elevation with zero run is vertical and has a signed ±90° angle, with undefined percent. Zero elevation and zero run is indeterminate. In inverse mode, zero slope and zero elevation allow any nonnegative run; zero slope with nonzero elevation has no solution.
