How to use this tool
- Enter text up to 100,000 characters and choose whole-text or per-line quoting.
- Choose a quote style, existing-wrapper behavior, inner-quote handling, and whether empty lines should be quoted.
- Quote the text, review the exact wrappers and escapes, then copy it or download a text file.
Preset and custom wrapper pairs
Choose straight single or double quotes, English curly quotes, guillemets, German low-high quotes, CJK corner brackets, or custom left and right text up to 20 characters each. Custom wrappers cannot contain line breaks. Processing normalizes CRLF and CR line endings to LF and limits per-line mode to 50,000 lines.
Existing and inner quotes are separate choices
Keep one layer leaves a value unchanged only when it already begins and ends with the exact selected wrapper pair. Always add a layer wraps it again. Inner text can remain unchanged, backslash-escape every exact wrapper token plus existing backslashes, or double each exact wrapper token. These transformations are formatting rules, not a promise that the result is valid JSON, CSV, SQL, or source code.

Common questions
Will it remove quote marks that are already present?
No. Keep one layer can leave an exact matching outer pair unchanged; otherwise the tool adds the selected pair. It does not strip or convert different quote styles.
What happens to blank lines?
In per-line mode, a truly empty line becomes a pair of quotes by default. Turn off Quote empty lines to leave it empty. A line containing spaces is ordinary text and is still wrapped.
Which inner-quote mode should I use?
Keep unchanged is safest for ordinary typography. Backslash and doubling modes are explicit text transformations whose suitability depends on the format where you will paste the result.
