Token rule
A match starts at # only when it is not immediately preceded by a Unicode letter, number, or underscore. The hashtag body contains one or more Unicode letters, numbers, or underscores. This avoids removing a tag embedded inside a word.

Common questions
Are non-Latin hashtags supported?
Yes. Unicode letters and numbers are accepted, including Japanese, Chinese, and Hindi.
Are hyphens included in a hashtag?
No. The match ends before a hyphen or other character outside letters, numbers, and underscores.
What happens to spaces around a hashtag?
Only the hashtag token is removed. Existing spaces and punctuation stay in their original positions.
