Rental Car Cost Comparison Calculator
Use one currency; choose direct days or hours with your explicit billing quantum and minimum. Enter all costs and flags yourself.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Add named rental scenarios and enter duration, base price and price unit.
- Enter extras, optional distance allowance and excess price, tax percentage and taxable flags.
- Compare billed time, every cost, totals, per-day costs and baseline differences.
Exact duration billing
Positive duration uses max(minimum periods, ceil(hours/quantum)); zero duration bills zero periods. Direct days use actual days without a billing quantum. Fixed extras may still charge at zero duration.
Calculation model
Actual days = hours/24. In duration mode positive hours bill max(minimum, ceil(hours/quantum)) periods; zero hours bill zero periods. Direct mode bills actual days. Extras multiply by trip, billed days or drivers. Excess = max(0, distance − included). Tax = marked cost base × entered percent/100. Exact original decimals determine ceiling; repeating decimals are exact fractions.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
How do distance and taxes work?
Entered and included distances share your km or mi unit. Excess is max(0, distance − allowance). Only explicitly marked components enter the tax base; taxes apply once.
