Rule of Thirds Overlay

Choose a JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 20 MB, 10,000 px per side, and 40 megapixels.

Processing stays in your browser.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose one JPEG, PNG, or WebP image within the stated pixel and memory limits.
  2. Adjust the guide colour, opacity, and line width while checking the local preview.
  3. Download a new PNG with the guide permanently drawn over the image; the original file is unchanged.

Local image workflow

The selected JPEG, PNG, or WebP is decoded, previewed, and exported in this browser. Image bytes are not uploaded, fetched, or saved by the page.

Bounded input and canvas memory

One image is accepted up to 20 MB, 10,000 pixels per side, and 40 megapixels. The decoded RGBA canvas is also bounded to about 160 MB (40 megapixels × 4 bytes); larger or undecodable images are rejected before processing.

Visual guide and output scope

The guide is a visual composition aid: two vertical and two horizontal lines at one-third and two-thirds. It does not crop, analyse, detect subjects, or claim that the resulting composition is correct. Download always produces a new PNG copy and does not preserve source metadata, animation, or the original file format.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this upload my image?

No. Decoding, preview, drawing, and PNG export happen locally in your browser.

Can I change the guide?

Yes. The workbench lets you choose the line colour, opacity, and width. The positions stay at one-third and two-thirds.

Does it crop or improve composition automatically?

No. It only draws a visual guide and does not analyse or modify the subject placement.

What does the download contain?

A new PNG with the guide drawn over the image. The original file remains unchanged and source metadata or animation is not preserved.
