Sealant Cartridge Calculator
Enter the joint length, rectangular bead dimensions, and volume printed on one cartridge.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter total joint length in metres.
- Enter bead width and depth in millimetres and cartridge volume in millilitres.
- Review theoretical coverage and the whole cartridge count rounded up.
Rectangular bead estimate
For a rectangular cross-section, usage is width (mm) × depth (mm) millilitres per metre. Divide cartridge volume by that rate for coverage, then divide total joint length by coverage and round up to a whole cartridge.
Theoretical yield
The estimate assumes a uniform rectangular bead and counts the full cartridge volume. It does not include gun priming, nozzle residue, uneven gaps, or application loss. Corner fillets and joints with backing material have a different cross-section.
Local planning estimate
Calculations run in this browser. Check the sealant maker’s joint design guidance and consider job conditions; this tool does not specify a suitable joint or guarantee coverage.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does this include application waste?
No. The result is theoretical based on cartridge volume. Priming, nozzle residue, and variable bead size can reduce real coverage.
How is bead usage calculated?
Width in millimetres multiplied by depth in millimetres gives millilitres used per metre for a rectangular bead.
Can I use this for a corner fillet?
The calculation assumes a full rectangle. A triangular corner fillet uses a different cross-section, so this estimate may overstate its material volume.
