A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter one file and size per line, such as report.zip 1.5 MB.
  2. Choose ascending or descending order.
  3. Review the stable numeric sort and any invalid lines.

Numeric size sorting

Lines are compared by their normalized byte count, never alphabetically by filename or displayed text.

Explicit units required

Use B, KB, MB, GB, TB, PB or binary KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB. Decimal units use powers of 1000; binary units use powers of 1024.

Stable and local

Equal byte values keep their input order. Parsing and sorting happen locally in your browser.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Are filenames sorted alphabetically?

No. Only the numeric byte value is used for ordering.

Can I mix KB and KiB?

Yes. Each source unit is normalized according to its own decimal or binary definition before comparison.

What happens to invalid lines?

They remain in their original order, are placed after valid lines, and receive a clear error message.
