Merge Every Other Line
Paste two texts, merge corresponding lines, and copy or download the bounded result.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter up to 100,000 characters in each text.
- Choose the output line ending style.
- Merge corresponding lines, then copy or download the result.
Corresponding lines
The first line from each input is joined, then the second line from each input, and so on. If one input is longer, its remaining lines are appended unchanged.
Empty and trailing lines
Empty lines count as real lines and remain in place. A trailing newline creates an empty final line. It appears at the output end only when that merged final line is empty; processing stays in this browser.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
How is this different from interleaving lines?
Interleaving places lines from the two inputs on alternating output lines. This tool joins lines with the same position on one output line.
What happens when one input is shorter?
The remaining lines from the longer input are appended unchanged.
Are my texts uploaded?
No. The merge runs locally in this browser.
