A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose degrees or radians and enter an angle.
  2. Move the angle slider or edit the value.
  3. Read the point, coordinates, and sine, cosine, and tangent values.

Coordinates are trigonometry

For an angle θ, the point on the unit circle is (cos θ, sin θ). Tangent is sin θ ÷ cos θ and is undefined when cosine is zero.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

What is the unit circle?

It is a circle with radius 1 centered at the origin. Its points make sine and cosine visible as y and x coordinates.

Why can tangent be undefined?

Tangent divides sine by cosine. At 90° and 270°, cosine is zero.
