Voice Pitch Range Analyzer

Choose a short recording with one clear voice. The result describes detected periodic frames in this clip, not a person’s full vocal range.

Choose an audio file. Files stay on this device; no microphone access is used.

The chosen channel is averaged down to 8 kHz. A YIN-style normalized difference detector examines overlapping 128 ms frames every 50 ms, searches 60–1000 Hz, and accepts nonquiet frames with a periodicity score of at least 85%. The score measures repetition, not accuracy probability. Min/max are accepted-frame extremes; they are sensitive to outliers. Silence, whispering, noise, background music, multiple voices and octave errors can change or prevent detection. Frequencies outside the search range are excluded or may be misread. This is a rough clip measurement, not a complete vocal-range test or an assessment of health, gender, singing ability or identity. Limit: 15 MiB, 30 seconds, mono/stereo and 6 million decoded samples. Browser decoding allocates memory before those decoded limits can be checked.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a short browser-supported audio file.
  2. Select one channel and analyze.
  3. Read the Hz range, frame coverage and periodicity score together.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Is the score a confidence probability?

No. A highly repetitive signal can still give an octave error or come from an instrument. The estimate applies only to the accepted frames of this recording.
