Grapheme segment counting
The browser Intl.Segmenter with granularity grapheme counts user-perceived grapheme segments. A target must contain exactly one grapheme segment, which keeps joined emoji, skin-tone sequences, and combining marks together.
Exact, non-overlapping matches
Each input grapheme is compared with the target; matches are counted once. Case-insensitive mode compares locale-aware lowercase forms. The percentage is matches divided by total grapheme segments.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Can I count an emoji?
Yes. Joined and skin-tone emoji are treated as one grapheme when the browser supports Intl.Segmenter.
Can the target contain several characters?
It may contain multiple code points, but it must form exactly one grapheme segment. Use a text search tool for multi-grapheme phrases.
Are spaces counted?
Yes. Spaces, punctuation, combining marks, and emoji are all grapheme segments in the input.
