EditorConfig Generator

Choose a file glob and common EditorConfig properties to generate one deterministic section. The browser only produces plain text; it does not execute or apply the configuration.

Generate one .editorconfig section locally. The result is plain configuration text for review and is never executed.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the file pattern that the section should match.
  2. Choose indentation, line-ending, character-set and whitespace settings.
  3. Generate and review the plain .editorconfig text before copying or downloading it.

One explicit section

The generator writes an optional root declaration and one section for a file glob. It supports common core properties and does not merge, inspect or change an existing file.

Plain-text output

All values except the file glob come from fixed choices or bounded integers. New lines and control characters are rejected in the glob. The generated text is displayed for review and never executed.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this change my project?

No. It only creates text in your browser. Copy or download it, review it, and place it in the intended project yourself.

Does every editor support every property?

Editor support can vary. Check the EditorConfig support for the editor and plugins used by your project.
