English to Binary
Enter text to see each character represented by its ASCII or UTF-8 byte sequence in binary.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter English text, including spaces, punctuation, or line breaks.
- Choose whether bytes are separated by spaces and whether each input line stays on its own output line.
- Convert, then copy or download the binary bytes.
ASCII first, UTF-8 when needed
ASCII characters U+0000 through U+007F map to their familiar single-byte values. Characters outside ASCII are encoded using the standard UTF-8 byte sequence.
Case, spaces, and separators
Uppercase and lowercase letters have different byte values. Spaces and punctuation are preserved and encoded. Output bytes use one space as the default separator; line breaks can remain visible between input lines.
Private browser conversion
The conversion, copy action, and TXT download are prepared locally in your browser. No text is uploaded or saved.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
How are English letters mapped?
Each ASCII letter maps to its standard byte: A is 01000001 and a is 01100001. The same rule applies to digits, spaces, and punctuation.
What happens to non-ASCII text?
It is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, with each byte shown as eight binary digits. For example, é becomes 11000011 10101001.
What separator is used?
Bytes are separated by one space by default. You can remove separators, and you can preserve input line breaks as output line breaks.
Does the tool upload my text?
No. It runs locally in your browser.
