A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste up to 1 MiB of plain text.
- Choose a positive interval N and the 1-based starting line.
- Extract the matching lines, then review and copy the result.
1-based interval and start line
N must be a positive whole number. The start value is a 1-based line number; the tool keeps that line and then every Nth line after it.
Line endings and blank lines
LF, CRLF, and CR are recognized, and the first detected newline style is used in the output. Blank lines still count as lines and are preserved when selected; line text is not trimmed.
Local plain-text processing
Input is limited to 1 MiB. Text stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
How is N counted?
N is a positive 1-based interval. For example, N = 3 and start line 1 keeps lines 1, 4, 7, and so on.
What does the start value mean?
It is the 1-based line number of the first line to extract. A start of 2 with N = 2 keeps lines 2, 4, 6, and so on.
Are blank lines and spaces preserved?
Yes. Blank lines count normally, selected line text is kept exactly, and output uses the first newline style found.
