A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Paste up to 100,000 characters.
  2. Choose spaces or tabs, the maximum amount to remove, and whether whitespace-only lines should be processed.
  3. Outdent the text, then copy or download the plain-text result.

Literal line-start removal

The selected unit is removed only from the start of each selected line, up to the chosen amount. Other leading characters, existing content, trailing whitespace, and CRLF, CR, or LF line endings stay unchanged.

Blank and mixed prefixes are explicit

By default, empty and whitespace-only lines are left unchanged. You can opt in to process them. Space mode removes spaces only and tab mode removes tabs only; mixed prefixes are never normalized. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and output to 500,000 characters.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Can it remove more indentation than a line has?

Yes. It removes only the matching leading characters that are present, so a shorter prefix becomes empty without affecting the first content character.

Are mixed spaces and tabs converted?

No. Only the selected character is removed, and the other leading character remains.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Processing, copying, and downloading happen locally in your browser.
