Delimiters are literal text, not regular expressions. Unmatched text is kept; nested openings are treated as content until the next closing delimiter. Maximum 1 MiB.

Enter text and delimiters to begin.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter up to 1 MiB of text.
  2. Enter literal opening and closing delimiters (up to 10,000 characters each).
  3. Choose whether to keep delimiters, remove the text, and copy the result.

Literal, configurable delimiters

Opening and closing delimiters are matched as exact text. Regex metacharacters, backslashes, spaces, and emoji have no special meaning.

Explicit removal modes

Content-only mode removes the text between each pair and keeps both delimiters. Full-span mode removes the content and both delimiters.

Nested and unmatched handling

Pairs are scanned left to right. A nested opening delimiter is treated as content and the next closing delimiter closes the current pair. If a closing delimiter is missing, the unmatched opening and the remaining text are kept unchanged. Input is limited to 1 MiB and stays in the browser.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Are delimiters regular expressions?

No. They are literal strings, so regex punctuation is matched exactly.

What happens to nested delimiters?

The next closing delimiter closes the current pair; an inner opening delimiter is treated as content.

What happens to unmatched delimiters?

Unmatched text is preserved. A pair is removed only when both delimiters are present.
