Silage Dry Matter Yield Calculator
Calculate dry matter yield from fresh silage yield and a measured dry matter percentage.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter the two values with the displayed units.
- Calculate the result.
- Copy the report or download it as TXT.
Formula and units
Dry matter yield (t DM/ha) = fresh yield (t/ha) × dry matter (%) ÷ 100. Fresh yield must be at least 0; dry matter must be from 0 to 100.
Measured dry matter
Dry matter excludes water. University of Wisconsin Extension explains measurement using representative samples; the input should describe the material whose fresh yield you enter.
Scope
Use a measured dry matter percentage from a representative sample, such as a laboratory result. No suggested percentage is supplied. The result does not assess forage quality, feeding needs or harvest suitability.
