A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Set relative entry and output paths, mode, port and public path.
  2. Generate and review the configuration and dependency notes.
  3. Copy or download the starter, install compatible dependencies and verify it in your own project.

Version and dependency scope

Targets Webpack 5 and webpack-dev-server 5. Requires webpack-cli, babel-loader, @babel/core, @babel/preset-env, style-loader and css-loader. Select compatible package and Node.js versions. No packages are installed by this tool.

Starter limitations

One JavaScript entry only. No JSX, TypeScript, HTML generation, CSS extraction, framework presets or deployment configuration. The dev server serves the public directory; provide your own HTML referencing the bundle at its configured public path. Production mode alone does not establish production readiness. Builds and dependency compatibility are not validated.

Local generation

Relative paths use a restricted ASCII character set without parent directory segments. Ports are limited to 1024–65535. Public path is auto or a root-relative directory ending in /. The tool generates text locally without reading project files or starting a server.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Why download a .cjs file?

The starter uses CommonJS require and module.exports. The .cjs extension keeps that format explicit even in projects whose package.json uses type: module.

Is the generated build guaranteed to work?

No. This is a starter snippet. Check paths, supply HTML, select compatible dependencies and run your project build yourself.
