Hill Repeat Pace Calculator

Calculate each observed hill repeat, recoveries, cumulative totals and explicit factor scenarios. No automatic target pace or physiology advice. Grade alone cannot imply equivalent effort. Horizontal distance assumes a straight constant net slope; surface distance is actual route distance. Net grade uses ascent minus descent, not separate local slopes. A user factor multiplies observed work time only; recovery stays unchanged. Recovery scenarios keep observed work unchanged, multiply recovery time and distance/elevation separately, and require a source. Nonzero recovery distance needs positive time. Factor scenarios change work only. All factors are user supplied.

Use one row per line and | between fields; names and sources cannot contain |.

1–100 group rows; 1–2000 expanded repetitions. Distance and observed value >0; all elevation and recovery values ≥0; count is a safe integer. Zero recovery distance requires zero elevation. Surface ascent + descent cannot exceed route distance. Factors need a nonempty source.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your own values and select units.
  2. Use one row per line and | between fields; names and sources cannot contain |.
  3. Inspect every row, then copy or download the same successful snapshot.

Model

Work time = elapsed seconds, or pace × distance in the selected unit × 60. Grade = 100 × net elevation / horizontal distance. Speed uses surface distance. Every group expands to individual repetitions.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

How is this calculated?

Work time = elapsed seconds, or pace × distance in the selected unit × 60. Grade = 100 × net elevation / horizontal distance. Speed uses surface distance. Every group expands to individual repetitions.

Is this a training recommendation?

No. Observations and optional factors come from the user. Automatic grade-to-pace prediction remains unavailable.
